Last Home Game and New Venue

This weeks sees the North Queensland Derby come to Townsville. The FNQ Bulls who are currently riding high on a rich vein of form will be the NQ Razorbacks opponents back out the spiritual home of senior football at Murray park.
Many an NQ Representative side has played here and many a senior game has been played out at this facility. The two new pitches and lighting are just the start of the rejuvenation of the old ground.
This weekend's game can have many cliché's thrown at it, but plain and simple the NQ Razorbacks need the three points to keep our play off hopes alive and FNQ Bulls need them to capture third spot on the QSL Ladder.
Over the last few weeks the paths of these team have been similar the only difference the Bulls have turned their dominance on the pitch into goals and points, where we the NQ Razorbacks have been left wondering where did
those points go.
For us to be in the playoffs, we must turn tight encounters into full points. It must start this weekend, not because it is a Derby or the Bulls, because the season's end is upon  us and time has run out for anymore opportunities to be lost.
Hopefully we see our many supporters and sponsors out at the final home game.

Line-up for the team is as follows:
Ryan Chellingworth  1
David Bowater         2
Guy Bimrose            3
Sean Richardson      4
Ben Richardson        5
Lee Mayberry           7
Chris Grossman        8

From The Gaffer 18th June

For the NQ Razorbacks to figure in the play offs we must get back to our winning way this weekend at home to the Gold Coast Stars.

This game promises to be a tough encounter, a much harder assignment than our first game of the season in Bundaberg.

Gold Coast has been able to bring some new players which have bolstered their playing stocks, unfortunately we are still without Michael Lancini to a season ending knee injury.

So, with that in mind, the responsibility will be left to some of our younger group of players who I have a lot of faith in, to get the job done.

The Coaching and Playing group would like to extend our thanks to the Club Sponsors and Loyal Supporters

We hope to see you at our home game,

Coach
Ken Mitchell

Trials and Tribulations, But Exciting Times Ahead

Ken Mitchell and the rest of the Nq McDonalds Razorbacks FC Staff have signed former-Fury star Chris Grossman.

With A-league axing Fury earlier this (Q-League) season and also the unfortunate natural disasters throughout Queensland in January/February this year has seen many affected and lives changed but none other than our very own Tully boy, Lorenzo Sipi. Due to the ongoing trials and tribulations Sipi and his family in Tully, have been through since the start of the year it comes as no surprise, unfortunately, that he has decided that these mental strains on his ability to perform to his capacity has gotten the better of him. We hope he will have some well-earned rest from sport and pursuits a career that pays.

There has also been a few other movements through the team. Mitchell Robinson has been deregistered from Nq McDonalds Razorbacks FC due to an injury that he brought into the preseason and has never properly recovered, he may play in the local football season, Dylan Rankin has taken his place, at number 16.

"Lorenzo has decided that he needs some time out from the game. He has encounter some tragic situations this year so far, Bereavements in the family, Yasi destroying their home and the Fury. With all of this, Lorenzo has not been working full time and has decided to take a new job and get back to earning money. Sadly we see him go, with the club , coaches and players support, we have left the door open for him to return," explains Ken Mitchell.
"Chris has come at the right time, Asia fell thru for him in seek of a pro contract. He has agreed to sign with the NQ Razorbacks. This will be until Chris can find either pro football again or he has to move from Townsville. Gareth Edds is still in Rehab for his Achilles and will only train with us as part of that situation."

A Few Words From Ken

Having now played four games in the QSL 2011 season the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks sit on six points from two wins and two loses.

This weekend against the Whitsunday Miners  it is very important for us to gain the three points and to remain in the top four.

The Whitsunday Miners have established a strong squad this season by bringing in a few lads from English Academies and lower leagues.

The Miners have only played on the road so far this year and have gained two credible draws.

The NQ McDonalds Razorbacks only preseason game was a lose to the Miners in February, on that weekend the Miners showed how talented a team they are.

This weeks game is going to be a very intense encounter as both team strive for points to make sure the early part of the campaign is a worthwhile launching pad to the play offs later in the year.

As for the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks our season has been separated by two good performance and two ordinary ones. For us to reach our goal of the play offs we must start to put together a consistent run of positive results.

Thank you to the Burdekin Community for their hospitality and many thanks for the continued supports of our sponsors and fans.

A Great Win

NQ McDonalds Razorbacks Fc made an entertaining game for the Townsville crowd to see against the favourites Southern Cross. With a nil-all score at half time, NQ McDonalds Razorbacks had plenty of opportunities in the first half from the Right-Half, Lorenzo Sipi, crossing the ball plenty of times into the 18 yard box.

The Second half brought a more defensive game from our boys, with plenty of offside calls and plenty more tackles outside the 18 yard box. The sensational goal from Jacob Crowley came at the 54', when he came down through the centre and took a dummy with an option to another striker. 3 Substitutions took place from the NQ bench (59', 74', 82'). 3 cards were produced throughout the game (Yellows 18', 70'; Red 86').

Coach says "Bring it on!"

This weekend see's our second home game for the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks FC (7pm Saturday 26, Townsville Sport Reserve).

With the bad weather taking our home, the Townsville Sports Reserve, out of play last week we moved to Burdekin Panthers, International Park, Ayr. Many thanks to the Burdekin club for your wonderful hospitality.

Pity we could not provide the required result to finish of a great day.

The NQ McDonalds Razorbacks performance against the Sunshine Coast Fire showed how short of match practice we really are. The Fire are a team who is in no need of a head start. They out played us for the majority of the match.

This week we must be up for the encounter with the new boys on the block Southern Cross United or we could face a similar fate.

By all accounts the Josh McCloughan coached side is very talented and proved this by wining the Clem Jones Cup, a preseason competition they played in with Fire, Strikers and other new comers Gold Coast Stars.

The NQ McDonalds Razorbacks goal is to reach the playoff in 2011, for this to happen it must start this weekend at home with a come back performance against Southern Cross.

We must be prepared for a very intense encounter and make a statement that it is not an easy road trip to North Queensland.

It will be wonderful to be back playing at the Townsville Sports Reserve, this facility has a lot of football history connected to it with the Razorbacks playing there regularly over the last four seasons and it being the former home of our first ever State League side Townsville Kern United in the late 70's early 80's.

Many thanks to our Sponsors and Supporters for backing the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks in 2011.

Round 2 In Review

Coach Ken Mitchell has written a few words in evaluation of Round 2: Sunshine Coast Fire FC; and thoughts of next game: Southern Cross United.

The weekend's game against Sunshine Coast Fire definitely showed how disrupted our preseason has been.

Being the second round of the QSL and being the Razorbacks second full ninety minutes in our whole preparation, compared to that of Sunshine Coast Fire, being their sixth or seventh full game (preseason competition: Clem Jones Cup including South East teams: Strikers, Southern Cross United and Gold Coast Stars).

The Sunshine Coast Fire don't need a head start on any team, they are already in front from the calibre of player and consistent nature of their team.

The Razorbacks showed how underdone we were, the longer the game went on the more fatigued we were which lead to poor possession and poor choices in trying to keep the ball and sharpness in around our and their penalty areas.

Overall it was something that the coaching group knew could happen but hoped it didn't. The players have returned to training on Monday with a good work ethic and the intention of trying to make up lost time so we can get up to speed.

The Razorbacks next game is at home against Southern Cross United (the winners of the Clem Jones Cup).

Message From The Coach, Ken Mitchell

Welcome to the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks 2011 season

This weekend see's the first home game for the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks .

With the bad weather taking our home , the Townsville Sports Reserve, out if the equations it looks as tho we will play at Burdekin Parkside Panthers, Alva Beach Road, Ayr.

It looked like our first fixture would have been postponed. So it is with many thanks to the Burdekin Panthers for coming to our rescue.

Last weekend the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks travelled to Bundaberg to play the Spirit. Our performance was nothing short of amazing. NQ McDonalds Razorbacks  preparation this season has been disrupted due to the extreme weather in the tropics. We have only completed about a quarter of our planned preseason, so it is a credit to the players and support staff for the work they have put in to be somewhere ready for last weekend..

This week will be totally different challenge , last week we played last seasons woodenspooners, this week we play the double winners in the Sunshine Coast Fire.

This club is a power house in the QSL, winning two out of the first three seasons of the QSL.

Players of the calibre of Shaun Blackman and Tyson Holmes still lead the Fires 2011 campaign.

For the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks we must be mentally tough this weekend as our football and fitness levels will not be enough to challenge the reigning champions.

The NQ McDonalds Razorbacks goal is to reach the playoff in 2011, for this to happen it must start this weekend at home with a satisfactory performance against the Fire.

In advance many thanks the Burdekin Panthers and the Ayr community for their hospitality.

Many thanks to our Sponsors and Supporters for backing the NQ McDonalds Razorbacks in 2011.

Coach Announces Full Line-up

With the team looking to show the Hyundai Queensland State League that NQ deserve a spot in the A-League even if it means they will be the franchise to step up to the plate.

Training was on and off throughout the Summer due to Cyclones and bad weather, the conditions of fields around Townsville have made it difficult for NQ McDonald's Razorbacks FC to train when trying to begin, although the team has kept fit by other means. When training got back to usual, NQ McDonald's Razorbacks FC "have been working very hard with the limited time for preparation," coach Ken Mitchell explains, "our pre-season has only been one quarter of what we expected it to be. I think fitness will take it's toll towards the ends of both halves, and substitutions will be critical to sustaining the energy levels of the team this week end."

The boys are much the same, with the likes of Lorenzo Sipi adding some wise experience hailing from his stint in the Hyundai A-League. The same mix as to last season's team of young and old gives NQ McDonald's Razorbacks FC a bit of flare and agility from the youngsters along with the older boys showing experience. This year the boys are hoping to get to the playoffs, and setting that target is just the beginning.
"It would be great to see more people supporting the local QSL team. Also the local clubs as well can do with some more support," Ken Mitchell adds his comments to the situation NQ, as a Football community, is in now the Fury have subsided.

Game is away, this Saturday 12 March at 7pm at the Martens Oval, Bundaberg.

The starting line-up looks to be:
Ryan Chellingworth, David Bowater, Luke Rowell, Josh Evans (C), Ben Richardson, Lee Mayberry, Lorenzo Sipi, Branden Holt, David Han, Jesse Consalvo, Robin Edwards

New Season Brings New Beginnings

This year brings a little bit of a fresh vibe to it. With NQ Fury FC being on a hold for a moment, the NQ McDonald's Razorbacks FC hope to fill the void in keeping the NQ community motivated in Football.

This year will bring not only this blog; bringing you previews to all games NQ McDonald's Razorbacks FC play, but off-field will be an event as well bringing more people to the games and better community involvement brings the A-League back to NQ. Here's to hoping.

Please share this around as the only means of sharing is through Facebook and through the NQ McDonald's Razorbacks FC's website.
